Congratulations, Veronika!

This year, we are proud to award the Max Coyer Memorial Scholarship to Veronika Markush of Windsor High School.

Selecting this year’s recipient was a genuine pleasure. Viewing the work of Windsor High’s student artists, we were struck by the range of vision and technical development on display — but it was Veronika’s portfolio that truly distinguished itself.

Her work demonstrates a quiet mastery of composition and a sensitivity to subject matter that recalls Max’s own still life series — an eye for the beauty embedded in the everyday, rendered with warmth and intention. Her icon work was equally compelling, showing a strong command of form and a visual language that resonated deeply with Max’s iconic series.

Veronika’s ability to move between these modes — the intimate and the symbolic — speaks to an artistic sensibility well beyond her years.

We are honored to support her as she continues her studies in Studio Arts at the University of Hartford Art School. We look forward to watching her practice grow.
